We all know, Liverpool are a different team without him.
For the past few years, Liverpool rivals claimed that The Reds cannot compete with other big teams without Stevie G.

Rafa Benitez's signed of Alonso, Mascherano, Kuyt and Torres indeed release Gerrard's burden.
And today, Liverpool can still keep winning without Gerrard.

In this season, Gerrard and Torres only paired up together in 12 matches so far, due to their back to back injury.
We all know how scary Liverpool heroic duo can be.
Their absence makes Liverpool's attack lack of creative and energetic organization.

Liverpool is still doing good this season without rely too much of Gerrard, but the both 4-4 final score against Chelsea and Arsenal proved the importance of Gerrard to control the midfield defense.

Stevie G come back at the match against Newcastle and WestHam, obviously, we can see a very different Liverpool, more confidence and more solid.

Back to the FWA Footballer of the Year Award, as a Liverpool fans, I think Gerrard deserved that, 23 goals in a single season (15 goals in EPL), this is a remarkable figures for a midfielder.

Last month, Ryan Giggs from Manchester United has been awarded PFA Player of the Year.
I am really surprise that Gerrard was pipped to Giggs, no offense to MU fans.
But I don't think anyone deserved this award better than Gerrard, except Ronaldo and Torres perhaps.

Now, don't get me wrong, Giggs is probably one of the best left winger of the world since 1999 Champions League.
He is good at dribbling, passing and crossing.
He is an expert of corner kick and free kick.

Beside, he is a nice guy, a nice team leader.
Ofcourse he deserved this award, but not this year.

It is so funny because after so many great years he have at MU, but he win the award in a year when he is not even a first choice player or key player for MU this season.
There were only 12 starting line up (until the day he receive the award) at this season for Giggs, scored 2 goals.

Something wrong with the panel huh???

Lets make a small comparison for their performance in Premier League so far.

Starting line up:
Giggs, (14)
Gerrard, (28)

Goal:

Giggs, (2)
Gerrard, (15)

On Target:

Giggs, (10)
Gerrard, (40)

Do I need to say more???

Even Chelsea's manager Guus Hiddink and Milan's Carlos Ancelotti agree that Stevie G is the best player of the world at 2009 and think the PFA award should be given to him.
